Looking for things to do in Halmstad? Close to the campsite there’s loads to explore – perfect if you’re up for a day trip or just want to fill your holiday with new experiences. Here we’ve gathered some of our best tips for activities in and around the city – and if you want even more ideas, you’re always welcome to pop by reception. We’re happy to help! ☀️

One of Sweden’s best beaches

Here you’ll find one of Sweden’s most famous and well-loved beaches – a full four kilometres long with wonderfully shallow water. There are cosy beach bars, live music and really lovely summer evenings. A must for all sun lovers and life enjoyers!

Golf

Are you a golf lover? Then you’ve come to the right place – this really is golf heaven! Just around the corner you’ll find both Halmstad Golf Club and Flygstaden Golf Club – two favourites for pros and happy amateurs alike.

Hiking

There are miles of trails to explore here for everyone who loves lacing up their hiking boots. One favourite is Prince Bertil’s Trail – an 18-kilometre gem that winds through coastal scenery, forest and cliffs.

Solgårdens After Beach

Heagård

In an old barn just outside Halmstad you’ll find Heagård – a cosy spot with roots going back to the 1600s. In summer, their waffle café opens up, and in winter the farm turns into a charming café with a shop and loose-leaf tea. A little gem all year round!

Halmstad Castle

Take a stroll along the Nissan River and stop by Halmstad Castle – a royal residence with roots going back to the 1600s. Here you can admire the beautiful architecture and join guided tours during the summer. A cosy cultural break right in the heart of the city!

Mountainbike MTB

Mountain biking

Plönninge MTB Park and Haverdals Nature Reserve invite you to enjoy nature-close rides, fresh air and really great experiences on two wheels. Expect winding trails, challenging sections and beautiful views along the way.

Kattegattleden

Kattegattleden is Sweden’s first national cycling route and offers a unique seaside setting. It stretches a full 390 kilometres – and passes right through Halmstad roughly halfway along the route. A fantastic experience!

Shopping and fika in the city

Stroll along Halmstad’s pedestrian streets, browse cosy shops and take a break at one of the many cafés. Here you’ll get both a big-city vibe and small-town charm!

Outdoor and indoor swimming

Simstadion Brottet is an outdoor pool with a real seaside feel, located right next to the beach. Concerts are also held here! If you’d rather swim indoors, head to Halmstad Arena Bad – one of southern Sweden’s biggest and most popular experience water parks.

Outdoor life & fishing

The inland area offers meadows, deep forests and plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures. Anglers can find salmon and trout in the Nissan and Fylleån rivers, and in several lakes you’ll also catch perch, pike and rainbow trout. On top of that, there are as many as 57 nature reserves here – each with its own scenery and unique wildlife.

Slottsmöllan – an activity centre

In the old industrial buildings you’ll find a great mix of creative and action-packed activities today – everything from professional photographers and studios to a skate park and go-karting. A perfect place to check out when you want to do something fun and a bit different!
