Alntorp Island
Set off on a perfect summer day trip on Lake Norasjön! Alntorp Island offers walking trails, swimming, mini golf, football and volleyball courts, as well as a large collection of preserved apple varieties. During the summer, the Plaskus boat runs between Nora and the island, making the journey part of the experience.

Örebro and Örebro Castle
If you’re in the mood for a slightly longer day trip, Örebro is around 30 kilometres from Nora. Combine shopping, restaurants and city life with a visit to the impressive Örebro Castle, located right in the city centre and surrounded by the River Svartån. The castle has around 700 years of history to discover.

Nora Bergslags Veteran Railway
Nora’s historic railway is a must-see for train enthusiasts and families alike. On selected operating days, you can experience vintage and steam trains running along the historic railway. Be sure to check the current timetable before your visit, as services are seasonal.

Göthlinska gården
Step into the life of a prosperous Nora family at the turn of the 20th century. Göthlinska Gården is an exceptionally well-preserved historic home, complete with original furniture, art, photographs, toys and other belongings. Its beautiful garden overlooks Lake Norasjön and is well worth a visit in its own right. The house is open to visitors during the season.

The Wooden Town of Nora
Start with a stroll through Nora, one of Northern Europe’s best-preserved wooden towns. Discover wooden houses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, cobbled streets, small shops and cosy cafés. Best of all, it’s only about a ten-minute walk from the campsite to the town centre.

Pershyttan Mining Village
Just outside Nora lies Pershyttan, one of Sweden’s best-preserved historic mining villages. Its blast furnace, waterwheel, water-powered machinery, mining environments and old miners’ homesteads tell the story of Bergslagen’s long ironworking heritage. Explore the area at your own pace or look out for seasonal guided tours.

Skärmarbodabergen
For a more adventurous day trip in nature, Skärmarbodabergen is a fantastic choice. Marked trails wind through a dramatic landscape of boulder caves, rocky cliffs, ancient pine trees and traces left behind by the Ice Age. There are several routes to choose from, ranging from shorter walks to longer hikes, although some sections of the terrain are quite challenging.

Kvarteret Bryggeriet
Art, crafts and industrial heritage come together at Kvarteret Bryggeriet, within walking distance of central Nora. The old industrial buildings have been given a new lease of life and now house artists’ studios, arts and crafts, food and cultural activities. During the summer, the former brewery also hosts exhibitions of contemporary art.

Järleån Nature Reserve
Pack a picnic and head out along the River Järleån, where rushing water, lush woodland and traces of Bergslagen’s ironworking heritage create a wonderful mix of nature and cultural history. The reserve covers a six-kilometre stretch of the river valley, and the Långforsen rapids are among the most impressive in Örebro County.

Siggebohyttan Mining Estate
Between Nora and Lindesberg lies the impressive Siggebohyttan mining estate, dating from the late 18th century. The estate offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Bergslagen’s prosperous mine owners and features an impressive 38-metre-long external gallery. The site is managed by Örebro County Museum and is open during the summer season.

Hiking around Digerberget and Pershyttan
If you’d like to experience more of Bergslagen’s beautiful countryside, there are several excellent hiking options around Pershyttan and Digerberget. The approximately nine-kilometre circular trail at Digerberget partly follows the Bergslagsleden hiking trail and combines woodland, scenic views and the historic surroundings of Pershyttan. For a shorter walk, try the Kottaberget circular trail.

Nora Lakeside Promenade
You don’t have to travel far for a lovely day trip. Follow Nora’s lakeside promenade along Lake Norasjön, passing the swimming area, Strandpaviljongen and the jetty where the boat to Alntorp Island departs. The walk continues towards the railway station and can be extended along the River Hagbyån towards Kvarteret Bryggeriet.
