First Camp Lunde – Telemark is located right by Lunde Lock, in the heart of the Telemark Canal. Here, you’ll find spacious pitches with electricity for motorhomes, caravans, and tents. You can rent canoes, kayaks, and bicycles, and get great tips for exciting nature experiences along the canal. The campsite offers more than 200 pitches, spread across different areas – some with grass, others with a combination of gravel and grass.
The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, and you are within walking and cycling distance of restaurants, Lunde Lock, a bus stop, a train station, and shops in Lunde town center.
Accessibility for All Guests
Lunde – Telemark is designed to be accessible for guests with disabilities. The new service building is specifically designed to accommodate wheelchair users and visually impaired guests. The paths around the campsite are suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers, with compact gravel surfaces and adjacent grass areas, providing clear edge markings and minimal elevation differences.
First Camp Lunde supports the Sunflower Lanyard, a symbol that ensures everyone who loves to travel has the opportunity to visit the destination. Lunde Lock also has a special wheelchair lift, allowing wheelchair users to experience the stunning Telemark Canal from the water.

Welcome to First Camp Lunde – Telemark, where scenic camping meets sustainability, accessibility, and outstanding guest service!
Waste Sorting
At Lunde–Telemark, both staff and guests sort waste into residual waste, food waste, glass and metal, hazardous waste, and bottles/cans for deposit. All waste is delivered to the local facility managed by IATA (Indre Agder og Telemark Avfallsselskap IKS). Deposit bottles are collected by the local sports club, IL Skade, which uses the proceeds to maintain and operate the lighted ski trail in Lunde.
Energy Saving
In 2021, a solar power system was installed on the main sanitation building, producing around 17,000 kWh per year. A high-efficiency air-to-water heat pump has also been installed, providing optimal performance during the summer season when energy use is highest at the campsite. Hot showers are included in your stay at First Camp, but please think of the environment and use water responsibly.
Free Guest Parking
Visitors to the campsite can park for free in our guest parking area next to the reception. Additional cars on pitches cost NOK 100 per night.
Barbecuing
Use gravel areas for barbecuing, or place a grill mat under the grill if using grass. If you don’t have a grill mat, please follow the fire department’s safety recommendations for distance from the ground. This helps prevent fire hazards and keeps the lawn in good condition for everyone. Open fires and fire pits are not permitted.
Pets
Dogs and cats are welcome. Please show consideration for other guests. Dogs must always be kept on a short leash, even at your pitch. Pets are not allowed inside buildings at Lunde–Telemark. Remember to bring waste bags and always clean up after your pet.
Kiosk
Lunde–Telemark has a small kiosk selling basic groceries and household items. Ice cream and soft drinks are, of course, available too! You’ll also find paddle, cycling, fishing, and hiking gear here. The kiosk follows the same opening hours as the reception.
Public Transport
Canal boats run between Dalen, Skien, and other stops. See telemarkskanalen.no (season: May/June–September). You can bring your bike on the canal boat — we recommend reserving in advance via telemarkskanalen.no. Drop-in is possible for short routes if space allows, with adjusted prices.
Bus: From Lunde, buses run to both Ulefoss and Bø. Check schedules at farte.no and vy.no. Express buses stop in Bø and Ulefoss, where you can continue to Lunde by local bus or train. Bus no. 103 operates between Lunde and Ulefoss.
Train: Lunde has a train station about 1 km from the campsite on the Sørlandsbanen line (Oslo–Kristiansand–Stavanger).
Cycling: Many attractions in Lunde are within walking or cycling distance. Maps are available at reception or at ut.no. National Cycle Route 2 passes through Lunde center. Bicycles can also be brought aboard the canal boats.
Nature and Environment
Two nature conservation areas are located near Lunde. The largest, Nomevatn Bird Sanctuary, is home to more than 150 bird species and is one of Telemark’s best feeding areas for waterfowl. The purpose of the protection is to preserve the rich birdlife and maintain habitats for waterbirds. The second area, Ajertrangen Nature Reserve, protects a rare type of pine swamp forest.
Dining
The nearest restaurant is Lunde Slusekro, located just 300–400 meters from the campsite, right where the canal boats dock. Lunde Lock is the only spot along the Telemark Canal where two canal boats cross paths every day at 13:10. You’ll also find Lunde Asia restaurant just 500 meters from the campsite.
Family-Friendly Facilities
A baby changing room is available in the sanitation building in area A. We offer rentals of canoes, kayaks, SUP boards, and bicycles — great family activities for your stay. Our neighbor, Lunde Slusepark, also has a playground for children.
Check-Out
Check-out time is 12:00 noon. Please pack up and leave your pitch by then.
Water Conservation
Hot water is included at First Camp, but please be environmentally conscious — keep your showers short.
