Garphyttan National Park
Discover one of Sweden’s oldest national parks, where flower-filled meadows meet deciduous and coniferous forests in the beautiful Kilsbergen landscape. Choose from shorter walks and longer hikes, and don’t miss the views from Svensbodaberget. A must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature, hiking and picnics.

Örebro Castle
In the heart of Örebro, surrounded by the waters of the Svartån river, you’ll find the city’s most famous landmark. Örebro Castle has around 700 years of history and offers exhibitions, activities and guided historical tours. Take the opportunity to stroll around the castle and along the river, or combine your visit with shopping, a coffee break and more sightseeing in central Örebro.

Wadköping
Step into a world of cobbled streets, red wooden houses and cosy little lanes in Wadköping, Örebro’s historic cultural district. Browse local crafts and small shops, visit museums or settle in for a relaxing coffee break. Wadköping is also right next to the beautiful Stadsparken city park, making it easy to combine with a day exploring central Örebro.

Kilsbergen and Rusakulan
You’ll already be staying in one of the Örebro region’s best areas for outdoor adventures. Head out onto the hiking trails of Kilsbergen or make your way to Rusakulan, where sweeping views stretch across the forests of Bergslagen, Örebro and Lake Hjälmaren. Pack some coffee and a pair of binoculars for an easy nature excursion with a spectacular reward.

Nora – the wooden town of Bergslagen
Take a day trip to Nora and wander among colourful wooden houses, cobbled streets, small shops and cosy cafés. This beautifully preserved wooden town on the shores of Lake Norasjön is full of historic surroundings to explore – and in summer, a scoop of freshly made Nora-ice cream is practically a must.

Bergsmansbyn Pershyttan
Just outside Nora lies Pershyttan, one of Sweden’s best-preserved historic mining villages. Here, the old blast furnace, waterwheels, mining environments and traditional miners’ farmsteads tell the story of Bergslagen’s long ironworking history. Explore the area at your own pace or look out for seasonal guided tours.

Oset and Rynningeviken
Swap the forests of Kilsbergen for open wetlands and abundant birdlife at Oset and Rynningeviken. These nature reserves are located close to Örebro and offer walking and cycling paths, rest huts, barbecue areas and lovely spots for a day out. A wonderful choice for a peaceful day surrounded by nature.

Karlslund Manor and Cultural Reserve
On the outskirts of Örebro, Karlslund brings together a historic manor setting, gardens, nature and industrial heritage in one beautiful area. Stroll through the grounds, discover local crafts and historic surroundings, or let the children explore the Children’s Garden. During the summer, Tekniska kvarnen also offers plenty of puzzles, experiments and hands-on discoveries.

Tysslingen
At the foot of Kilsbergen lies Tysslingen, a shallow lake that attracts large numbers of birds – and plenty of nature lovers too. The lake is particularly famous for the swans that gather here in spring, but the area is also a lovely destination for birdwatching and nature photography at other times of the year. You’ll find birdwatching towers and several other small visitor attractions around the lake.

Örebro – shopping, restaurants and city life
Head into Örebro and combine sightseeing with shopping, coffee breaks and restaurant visits. The city centre offers a mix of well-known brands and independent local shops, with much of the action centred around Drottninggatan, Köpmangatan and the surrounding streets. Why not combine your shopping trip with a visit to Örebro Castle or Wadköping, or enjoy a stroll along the Svartån river?

The Nobel Museum in Karlskoga
Take a trip to Karlskoga and visit Alfred Nobel’s Björkborn, where Alfred Nobel lived during his final years in Sweden. Discover the man behind the Nobel Prize and explore his home, laboratory and the historic manor surroundings. A fascinating excursion for anyone interested in history, science and Swedish cultural figures.
