Cycle the Kattegattleden and stay in Mölle
Discover Sweden’s beautiful west coast along the Kattegattleden and stay with us during your cycling adventure! Kattegattleden is Sweden’s first national cycle route, stretching from Helsingborg in the south to Gothenburg in the north. With its unique coastal location, the route offers beautiful views along the coast of Halland. Kattegattleden is 370 kilometres long, almost entirely car-free and takes you through small fishing villages and popular summer towns such as Båstad, Halmstad and Varberg.
Along the coast, you will also pass several historic sites and interesting attractions. The route takes you past places such as Tjolöholm Castle, Varberg Fortress and Höganäs, which is known for its family-run farm shops and vineyards.
Accommodation along the Kattegattleden
What better way to make the most of this wonderful nature experience than to stop at a campsite along the way? You can stay close to nature while enjoying the comfort that can be particularly welcome after a long day in the saddle.
Kattegattleden passes four First Camp destinations, with Mölle-Höganäs located just 2 km from the route. The trail also passes Kärradal-Varberg and Tylösand-Halmstad, where you will find two more First Camp destinations. If you cycle further south past Mölle, you will find Torekov-Båstad on the idyllic Bjäre Peninsula.
The route around Mölle
From Mölle, you can choose to continue cycling either south or north. If you follow the route north, there are three First Camp campsites where you can stay overnight. Here are a few different routes depending on how far you would like to cycle.
From First Camp in Mölle to Torekov
From Mölle, you can cycle north towards the idyllic summer town of Torekov on the beautiful Bjäre Peninsula. Take the opportunity to stop at First Camp in Torekov, visit the charming harbour, stroll through the picturesque little streets and enjoy views of Hallands Väderö.
Cycle east from Mölle and then head north along stage 2 towards Ängelholm. From there, continue onto stage 3 between Ängelholm and Båstad. You will cross the Rönne river by the harbour in Ängelholm and pass small coastal villages such as Skepparkroken, Björkhagen and Vejbystrand. Then turn towards Torekov and cycle through the heart of the Bjäre Peninsula, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The route is approximately 60 kilometres long.
From First Camp in Mölle to Tylösand
Stages 2 and 3 can also take you from Mölle all the way to the sandy beaches of Tylösand! The route is approximately 120 kilometres if you cycle via Torekov and the Bjäre Peninsula.
Follow the same route as you would from Mölle to Torekov and then continue along stage 3 towards Båstad. From Båstad, follow stage 4 past the charming town of Laholm, which is well worth a short detour, and continue towards Halmstad.
Along the way, you can make a detour to discover Skottorp Castle, with its cheese shop and chocolaterie, as well as Skottorps Stengods, where you can even try your hand at pottery. You will also cycle through two nature reserves, Tönnersa and Gullbranna.
In Halmstad, continue west along stage 5 towards Falkenberg. After a few kilometres along the coast, you will reach the beaches of Tylösand. A great tip is to spend a night in Torekov along the way, giving you plenty of time to explore the beautiful surroundings.
From First Camp in Mölle to Kärradal
From the campsite in Mölle, you can also cycle along the Kattegattleden all the way to Kärradal, north of Varberg. The route is approximately 190 kilometres if you cycle via Torekov and the Bjäre Peninsula.
Follow the same route as you would from Mölle to Torekov and Tylösand, then continue along stage 5 to Falkenberg. From Falkenberg, cycle along stage 6 towards the popular summer town of Varberg, where you will pass Varberg Fortress, the beaches of Apelviken and the beautiful seafront promenade.
Once you have passed Varberg, continue along stage 7 towards Kungsbacka. Around 10 kilometres north of Varberg, you will reach beautiful Kärradal by the sea. A great tip is to spend a night in both Tylösand and Torekov along the way, giving you plenty of time to discover the beautiful surroundings.
