Sustainability at First Camp – Waste

Sustainable Waste Management ♻️

At First Camp, we work to reduce our waste in order to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. By generating less waste, we can lessen our impact and help preserve the planet’s resources. It also leads to cost savings, as less waste often means lower waste management expenses. We want it to be easy to do the right thing at our destinations, and we actively engage our guests in recycling by providing clear signage and information.

How We Work to Minimize Waste

Tracking Waste Volumes

We collect and centrally monitor the amount of waste generated at each destination annually, where reliable data is available. This allows us to track developments in our waste volumes and identify areas where improvements may be needed.

Recycling at Our Destinations

We sort waste at our destinations and provide our guests with the opportunity to do the same. This helps reduce environmental impact and promotes recycling. By involving guests in the recycling process, we also raise awareness about responsible waste management. It should always be easy to do the right thing!

Waste Bins in Bathrooms

All bathrooms, toilets, and service buildings are equipped with waste bins. This provides a practical place for disposing of items like toilet paper and hygiene products, helping to maintain a cleaner, more pleasant environment for our guests and making cleaning more efficient.

Dispensers for Hygiene Products

We do not use single-use packaging for hygiene products such as shampoo, conditioner, or soap. Instead, dispensers are provided in cabins, staff areas, and service buildings.

Sustainable Service Without Single-Use Items

At our destinations, we do not use portion packs for food or single-use items as standard. In our bistros, for example, butter, jam, and yogurt are served in reusable containers such as glasses, bowls, or pitchers – portion packs are used only for takeaway. We also avoid disposable cups, glasses, plates, and cutlery, and prefer reusable alternatives. Straws and spoons made from biodegradable materials, like paper or wood, are used sparingly and only when needed.
