Here we’ve gathered our best nature tips in the area — perfect for a day trip or a calm moment surrounded by greenery. 🌿


Hiking near Karlstorp
From Karlstorp, nature is right around the corner – and several of Halmstad’s best trails are just a short distance away. Choose between coastal walks with a sea breeze, peaceful forest loops, or longer stages when your legs are up for more.
Prince Bertil’s Trail
One of the area’s most loved routes. The trail is 18 km long and follows the coast from Halmstad via Tylösand and on towards the lush Möllegård nature reserve. It’s easy to walk in sections – perfect if you want to combine hiking with swim stops, fika, and lovely views along the way.
Galgberget
When you’re in the mood for a nature break close to town, Galgberget is spot on. Expect gentle green trails, nice picnic areas, and a lookout tower with views over Halmstad. A great stop for a shorter walk or an evening stroll.
Skedala Forest
A large outdoor area with several marked loops of different lengths. Here you hike among pine and leafy woodland in slightly more hilly terrain – perfect if you love forest vibes and want to pick a route that fits your day.

Fishing in lakes and rivers
Gone fishing… 🎣 Around Karlstorp you’ll find great spots both by rivers and lakes. In the Nissan and Fylleån rivers, you can catch salmon and trout in the right season, and the lakes often offer pike, perch, and rainbow trout. Perfect when you want to mix beach days and outings with a bit of quiet time (and maybe hook tonight’s dinner!).

The Kattegattleden cycle route
Kattegattleden runs along the coast of Halland and passes straight through Halmstad. The full route is 390 km long, but from Karlstorp you can easily hop on a perfect day stage. Expect beautiful coastal views, great stop-offs, and cycling that feels more like holiday than workout. Read more here.

Beaches and coastal nature
From Karlstorp it’s just a short trip to some of Halland’s finest beaches. If you want to mix up your beach day or find a calmer favourite spot, there are plenty of hidden gems along the coast.
Tylösand - The top pick for many – and it’s easy to see why. Four kilometres of soft sand, shallow water, and that classic summer feel from morning dips to evening swims. Perfect for families, sun lovers, and anyone who just wants to enjoy the sea at its very best.
Haverdal & Vilshärad – A slightly quieter coastal gem with a long sandy beach and impressive dunes behind it. It’s especially lovely to stroll through the dunes, find your own sun spot, and soak up the nature around you.
Frösakull/Ringenäs – Continue south from Tylösand and you’ll find more open stretches of beach with extra space and peace. A great outing when you want beach vibes at a slower pace.

Golf
For many, golf is the perfect nature day – fresh air, green views, and a relaxed round at your own pace. From Karlstorp you’re close to two of Halland’s most popular courses:
Halmstad Golf Club
One of Sweden’s most famous golf facilities with 36 holes of top-class golf. Major tournaments are played here, and the courses are just as fun whether you want a challenge or simply a really beautiful round.
Flygstadens Golf Club
A perfect option for a more spontaneous golf day. Here you’ll find a town-close 9-hole pay & play course – easy, relaxed, and always a good time.

Surfing and paddling on Halland’s waters
Around Karlstorp you’re close to both surf-friendly beaches and calmer waters for paddling – so whether you want to chase waves or glide along in peace, there are great options nearby.
Surfing, kitesurfing and wingfoiling
When the wind is up, the beaches around Tylösand and further along the coast are perfect for wave surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and wingfoiling. Read more here!

Mountain biking
Halmstad has several really great MTB trails to choose from – and even more on the way! Here are two close to the campsite:
Plönninge MTB Park
Two fast and fun tracks with several kilometres of trails that suit both beginners and riders wanting a bit more speed. Expect flow trails, enduro routes, and even a jump line.
Haverdal Nature Reserve
In one of Halland’s oldest nature reserves, trails wind through pine forest, sand dunes, and a magical coastal landscape. A true paradise if you love exploring nature from the saddle!


Nature reserves
Halmstad Municipality has loads of protected nature – in fact, 57 nature reserves in total. Here are a few that are especially easy to reach from Karlstorp and offer really lovely outdoor experiences:
Haverdal Nature Reserve
One of Halland’s most popular reserves with pine forest, beach, and big dunes. A top spot for a walk, a swim, or simply a quiet moment in nature.
Lynga Sand Dune / Stora Sandkullen
One of Scandinavia’s highest sand dunes, 36 metres above sea level. Climb the steps and enjoy the view!
Möllegård Nature Reserve
Lush and green – and a great stop if you’re hiking Prince Bertil’s Trail. The forest feels almost fairy-tale-like here, especially early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Långhultamyren
A well-preserved bog with a marked nature trail and wide-open views. Perfect if you want to experience a different kind of landscape than coast and forest.
Danska Fall
A real inland gem with rapids and multi-level waterfalls, surrounded by beautiful beech forest. Scenic trails run through the reserve, making it easy to enjoy a lovely day trip with a picnic by the water.
